Man arraigned for murder of in-laws and family dog then torching house

POUGHKEEPSIE – Robert Buda, 34, accused of murdering his in-laws and their dog before setting fire to their house was arraigned in Dutchess County Court Wednesday morning. Buda is accused of murdering Paul and Joann Hait and their dog before setting fire to their house, with the bodies inside of the Marlorville Road home on January 26, 2025. Buda traveled from the hamlet of Hughsonville to Hyde Park after committing the crimes and was arrested by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office a few hours later.
