A Hyde Park man faces up to 20 years in state prison after he pleading guilty to first-degree robbery and assault.

Matthew Garcia waived his right to appeal during the plea before Dutchess County Judge Edward McLoughlin on July 10.

Cynthia Murphy, senior assistant district attorney, said the sentencing agreement is between 18 to 20 years in state prison "at the court's discretion." He also faces five-years post release supervision, a full order of protection for the victim and restitution.

Garcia was initially charged with second-degree attempted murder and first-degree robbery, according to police.
